If project June Submission

If it is best to forgive and forget,

what has been the most difficult

for you to let go? What will you

never be able to excuse?

I don’t agree with it being best to forgive and forget. Maybe forgive, but that’s a big maybe, depending on the offense. And as for the forgetting part, well, you just may as well set yourself up for something similar to happen again.

I had thought, at first, that one of the things I would never forgive or forget would be what Dan did, and tried to do. And though I’m right in that, ‘cause I’ll never forgive him, and I sure as hell can’t forget, I’ve also realized that I won’t ever forgive myself fully for what happened with Frank.

I’ll never forgive myself for compromising some of my basic founding principles just to be with someone. By doing that, I spent 2 years of my life being put second to something that ended up destroying his time spent in the military and came close to destroying mine.

And if I ever do forgive myself for that, I won’t ever forget it. I can’t. I won’t.
