Ignorance and Gullability~Aug. 19, 2002~ Stupid people piss me off. But what's even worse are stupid gullable people. Today one of the members on Momma's posted a link to a site that states, and "proves" that the Harry Potter books are Satanic manuals for children. On that site, there's a link to another one, The Cutting Edge that has a few articles about the same thing. On the first site, in the second article, which, mind you, you have to scroll all the way down past an awful lot of anti-demon propoganda, the author contradicts themselves in a few points. The most notable being that things like the Hardy Boys, Superman and other juvenile heros, though not having been openly stated to have prayed, "fought evil with physical might or intelligence" and than turns around to say that "Fantasy, per se, is not bad. It is only bad if it promotes a godless or "might makes right" view of the world." Yea, ok. Than, on the second site, just one of many things is really picking at my brain. The one that equates a unicorn with a symbol of Satan. A unicorn?!?!?! Come on! No one I know, including the Christians I work with, nor even popular mythology regarding unicorns has ever ever stated such nonesense. And I may be wrong in this, but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that the unicorn was actually a prefered creature of God, but due to it's own "flightiness" it missed the Arc. In that same article it equates a phoenix with the dead and rebirth of Lucifer. Wait a minute... Lucifer didn't die. He fell from grace, but did not die. The only ones that did that were Jesus and Lazarus. So it would seem to me that the phoenix would be a better analogy/symbol of one of them. And all the crap about magicians, Wicca, Witchcraft, magick... PUH-leaze! And that the author of the second one states that they were a practitioner during the 60's just absolutely made me laugh. They practiced during the 60's and are trying to sound authentic about spells and flying? HA! Can we say drugs, boys and girls? Now, they may be spot on in regards to the procedure of ceremonial magic, but, being a witch myself, and having explored various religions of the world, I can say, with a fair amount of authority, they're also full of shit.
